So, when a vehicle is firing general smoke you treat it like Direct Fire. Can someone walk me through the steps? What are you rolling for?

Find a spot on the battlefield, place the templated and roll a D20 to see where it lands? How do you get your deviation in this process?

Thanks

Firing Smoke is explained in the Direct Fire Chapter.  Treat it just like firing HE.  Use the Direct Fire Deviation table 7.2 to determine deviation in case of a miss.

On this same line of thinking, can you target a corner with HE, in hopes that the template will get you a partial hit on something around the corner? I don't remember reading this in the ruleset specifically.

Greg,   There is no template (or corner) to use.  Direct fire is a point on the board you can visually see.  You roll to see if you hit.  If you miss then you consult the Direct Fire deviation table to see if you are short or long in the miss.

Chapter 7 Direct Fire  page 7.2 Direct Fire Deviation section.

Thanks
