Greetings shipmates!Several of you were quick to indicate that the armor listed for HMS Hood on the RN Home Fleet Ship Log is incorrect. You are right; this pesky typo managed to slip through numerous proof reading checks. Hood's belt armor had a maximum thickness of 12 inches, which means her hull armor classification should be "BB." Her deck armor is also in the BB range. Further, while her turret faces were 15 inches (consistent with the BA armor classification), her barbettes were only 12 inches and turret roofs only 5 inches. Accordingly, we have downgraded her main armament armor classification to BB as well.Hood's revised armor should read "BB BB -." The dash indicates her 4" secondaries were open mounts with thin gunshields that did not provide effective protection from gunfire. As a quick fix, you can make these corrections with a couple of judicious strokes of a black pen. Even better, print off a replacement Ship Log. ODGW provides General Quarters 3rd Ed. purchasers the capacity to print rules pages and game charts in case a page gets coffee spilled on it or a revision is made. So, go to the GQIII "Update Files" and print your revised RN Home Fleet Ship Log. You'll be ready for your next engagement without delay.CinC
