First contact led to a platoon of T-26 tanks skirting the edge of the hill to the south. Posted Image

Second contact led a 2 platoons of T-34 tanks slamming into the woods south of the crossroads at the extreme edge of the terrain, just below the crossroads. What happened after this was 4 hours of slugging it out at 100 to 250 yard ranges. Alot of reactionary actions were used, I mean alot. How esle is a 38t going to take down a T-34. Posted Image

short of the kitchen sink......here's another platoon of T-34 tanks. So far the German tankers have been very lucky. Even at these ranges the Germans are rolling on the '-2' row in the turret and a '-5' in the hull. The dice were hot for me that day. A few ones are always welcomed numbers. Posted Image

So as the German tankers pounced on the Soviet tanks, they were about to get a taste of their own medicine. As they reached the edge of the woods, they saw the rest of the entire Soviet force....150 yards away. Posted Image

At this point in the game it just gets messier.Reactionary Actions, Overwatch, Command Actions, etc....What was lucky for the Soviets is they did not suffer any morale problems as a T-26 boke and ran back through the ranks of all the other stands. Posted Image

The Cossacks charged on, but only to find themselves in the open and targets for some 81mm morat crews to practise......but they kept running out of ammo until I got down to one crew. Posted Image

By now things have settled in the woods. The Germans regrouped and waited deep in cover for the advancing Soviets....But they never did. Posted Image

In addition to the 6...yes 6 missions I had for the 105mm and 150mm artillery, the Germans had 2 air missions available. But since the Soviets attacked where they did I never got the advantage of LOS.Finnaly I did, and after many phone calls, the German lines back to base were chewed up by rats!Finnaly I got a call through. So thus ended battle 2A in the "Race for Leningrad"The result was a draw. While the Soviets did take the crossroads, they also took enough losses to give the Germans a victory point to cancel out their victory point. After some more rolling of the dice. The Germans were unable to advance and are stuck in Luga for another battle, the 1st panzer Division that is.As for the 8th Panzer Division, they too will face a Soviet counterstrike. What was very odd about this battle is that 90% of it happened in 1 square foot of a table top that was 6'x6'. Nothing felt slow about it and we did cover nearly 14 turns of play.GREAT GAME!!!!!!!!!
